Wrinkles Around The Eyes

Wrinkles around the eyes are a common sight on many faces. Their presence on the face being very prominent makes one look aged and old before time.

The skin around the eyes is the thinnest and most delicate on our face, perhaps even a millimeter thick in places. Exposure to the sun affects the skin around the eyes first, damaging it greatly. Damage caused to the collagen and elastin proteins, leads to the development of wrinkles around the eyes. It also causes further thinning of the skin. This process continues as we age and are exposed to greater amounts of sun damage.

Different forms of treatment administered to cure eye wrinkles are Laser treatments, Injections like Restylane or Juvederm for the lines in and around the eyes. Also, botox is said to be very effective.Fractional laser resurfacing such as Fraxel® is also highly effective.

A combination of different treatments may also be appropriate to maximize results. Ideally a patient will seek treatment with a skin expert who can determine the treatment best suited to their particular case.

Some of them may have a sensitive skin allergic to these treatments. It is therefore essential that one consult a skin expert before making any move.
