Aging can do a lot of damage to your skin. This article will tell you how you can take care of your skin such that it will not have the harming effects of aging. It will also tell you can treat aged skin.
Preventive skin care
- Eat a balanced and healthy diet. Your diet should especially include good amounts of Omega – 3 fatty acids and Vitamins A & E. Also include anti-oxidants, either naturally or by taking supplements. This will prevent wrinkles.
- The susceptible areas for wrinkles are the forehead, around the eyes and the lips. Apply aging preventive skin care products on these areas from a younger age.
- Use exfoliation products to remove dead skin.
- Maintain a CTM regime, i.e. Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer for the whole of your life.
- Avoid getting burned by the sun. Apply proper sun protection creams. Avoid the sun between 10:00 AM and 03:00 PM.
- Do not use soap for the face. Use facewashes only.
- If you smoke, stop it. Smoking produces free radicals in the body which are bad for your skin.
- Avoid habitual facial movements like squinting. The folds caused on the face will result in wrinkles in the future.
- Don’t use heavy or harsh make up regularly.
Treatment of aged skin
- Again, you need to ensure that you eat a balanced diet consisting of all the nutrients required for a good skin.
- Choose good anti-aging products from the market and use them.
- Look for products that contain alpha hydroxyl acids.
- Use proper sunscreens to protect yourself from the sun.
- Consult your doctor or your beauty care expert on whether you can use retinol products. Retinol has been found to give good results with skin care.
- Drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated. Dry skin is more prone to damage.
- If you are desperate to improve your skin immediately, you could go for surgical treatments or botox injections. But be careful, these could have harmful side effects. Choose an experienced and knowledged practitioner if you go for surgery or botox.
