Radiesse (also known as Radiance) is a dermal filler which is used by many people around the world to decrease the appearance of fine lines, facial folds and wrinkles. The results are long lasting. In the United States, Radiesse is FDA approved to treat vocal cord deficiencies, oral and maxillofacial defects and also facial lipoatrophy in patients infected with HIV virus.
Radiesse is a cosmetic filler used in the treatment of wrinkles and deep lines around the mouth and nose including nasolabial folds, smile lines and marionette lines.
This cosmetic filler has small microsphere particles suspended in the solution which is gel like. These microspheres are composed of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a natural substance found in our body. They stimulate the growth of natural collagen causing the development of new tissue.
Rediesse is very different from other fillers as it doesn’t require prior allergy testing. It is not even tested on animals and doesn’t contain products made from animals.
After effects of the Rediesse treatment
There is slight swelling visible which lasts for one or two days after the treatment. Applying ice to the swelling areas will decrease the swelling. Avoid any activities which will strain the facial muscles. Eg. Chewing gum or chewy food, drinking through a straw, yelling or shouting etc.
There is a minimal risk associated with Radiesse cosmetic filler. Once the treatment starts, the effects are quite visible. This helps the patient decide whether he/she should continue with the treatment further or not.
