Wrinkles and Collagen

Collagen is vital for reducing wrinkles. It is an important protein found in the dermis of skin and is important for skin texture. Wrinkles and collagen are related and deficiency of collagen causes wrinkles.

How Wrinkles and Collagen are Related

Collagen is an important protein common in connective tissue of bones, ligaments and skin. It is widely found in the inner layer of the skin dermis. It is responsible for skin’s characteristics such as resilience, strength and texture.

Collagen is a tissue that breaks down as time progresses. However, skin cells fibroblasts have the capability of regenerating collagen. But as age progresses, the skin’s ability to produce collagen decreases and wrinkles occur. Therefore, there is a need to increase collagen supply to the body through other sources.

Important Factors for Collagen Production

Collagen production is a complicated process that involves a lot of factors. Some important factors include amino acids, vitamin C, hormones and copper peptides.

Amino acids:

Collagen is rich in amino acids. Therefore, supplying these amino acids helps in stimulating the production of collagen.

Vitamin C:

This vitamin is vital for collagen production. Many diseases such as improper wound healing, bleeding gums and scurvy are mostly caused due to deficiency of collagen. Therefore, taking vitamin C helps to accelerate the production of collagen and minimizes wrinkles.

Copper peptides:

It is one of the vital mineral for collagen synthesis. However, more than 2mg of copper should not be taken. Inorganic form of copper should be avoided as it causes free radical formation. Organic form is recommended.

Hormones:

Most of the skin cells respond to signal molecules hormones. Some of the signals triggers the cells to make more amount of collagen. In case of a young adult or a child the signals produced are more and hence they produce more amount collagen in the body.

Fruit Facial for Collagen Production

The two most popular fruits that promote collagen production are avocado and kiwi fruit. Kiwi fruit is rich in antioxidant vitamins E and C. Avocado is made of a sugar that is vital for boosting collagen synthesis.

Take one tablespoon avocado flesh and pulp of half kiwi fruit and blend them. So formed paste is applied on face and left for about 30 minutes. Now wipe it with a cloth and wash your face with cool water. To obtain best results it should be done once a week.
