Different Types of Wrinkle Injections

Wrinkle injections are most commonly used when anti wrinkle creams do not work. It is an invasive form of treatment. Most commonly used injections are botox, hylaform, restylane and juvederm. All these injections work by paralyzing face muscles and by filling of area under wrinkles.

Wrinkle Injections

Botox Injection:

It is a chemical that is obtained from bacteria clostridium botulinum. It has the ability to obstruct the relation between a muscle and nerve. Mostly wrinkles are caused due to the contraction of muscles. So, use of this injection can minimize the formation of wrinkles. It is best for treating wrinkles that occur on the upper part of the face. Overnight results are not shown. Its effectiveness is seen after 2 to 3 days.

Hylaform Injection:

It is an injection that is made of hyaluronic acid. It is effective for wrinkles that occur on cheeks and lips. Once injected into the body it gets incorporated into the dermis and binds with water. As time progresses, it penetrates into the skin. This treatment has to be carried out for 6 to 12 months to gain the desired results. Side effects such as redness occurs but it lasts for only one week.

Restylane Injection:

It is also made up of hyaluronic acid. It is a non animal based wrinkle filler and is produced from streptococcus bacteria. Common side effects such as redness or pain may occur at injection site. However, they last for only a week.

Juvederm Injection:

This form of treatment is approved by FDA and is effective for deep wrinkles. This injection has the capability of regaining skin volume. It improves the skin tone and smoothens the skin. Its effectiveness can last for about 1 year. Bruising and redness are the most common side effects seen.

The most common substances that should be present in these wrinkle injections include radiesse, sculptra and artefill. It is better to consult a dermatologist before selecting a particular injection.
