Sunscreen for Skin Wrinkles

Sun exposure is the most important factor that leads to premature wrinkling of skin. The UV rays present in it is responsible for skin wrinkles development. However, by applying sunscreen you can minimize sun damage that is caused to the skin.

Sunscreen to Prevent Skin Wrinkles

  • Sun emits UV radiations of three different kinds UVA, UVB and UVC. UVC does not cause skin damage. However, UVB rays mostly affect the epidermal layers of skin cells and causes sun burns. UVA rays have the ability to penetrate deeply into the skin. UVA radiations have constant intensity throughout the year as well as the day.
  • Both UVA and UVB rays damage the skin and cause wrinkles. They break collagen present in the skin and create free radicals. These free radicals so produced cause maximum damage to the skin. The sun rays also affect the natural skin repairing mechanism. However, you can prevent the damage caused to the skin by using a sunscreen that aids in blocking UV rays.
  • Ingredients present in sunscreen are classified into two types depending on the type of function they carry out. Some of the ingredients help in physically blocking radiation and others absorb the radiation. Depending on the type of radiation absorbed sunscreens are classified as UVB absorbers and UVA absorbers.
  • Most of the sunscreens have zinc oxide in them. However, it is not so effective and nowadays new sunscreens that have titanium dioxide are used due to their excellent property of protection from sun’s rays.
  • A good sunscreen should have titanium dioxide, avobenzone and a minimum SPF of 15. If all these ingredients are present then you can use it.
  • One should apply sunscreen in such a way that it covers the sun exposed areas. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the sunscreen to get totally absorbed in to the skin. So, it is necessary that you apply it much earlier for proper absorption.
  • It is necessary that you reapply sunscreen for every 2 hours if you are out in the sun for a longer period of time.
