Eye Wrinkles

Age takes it toll on us within no time. Notice the eye wrinkles and furrowed eyebrows that don’t haste in spoiling the beauty of our eyes. But there isn’t much to worry. Just follow a few tips to lend more spark and beauty to your eyes.

Causes of eye wrinkles:

Eye wrinkles are not related to the inner most layer of the skin, that is, the epidermis. However, they arise because the middle layer of the skin, that is, the dermis contracts and subsequently the outer most subcutaneous layer also loosens.

The dermis contains elastin and collagen, both of which prevent wrinkles and keeps the skin looking healthy and fresh. They also help in retaining moisture and in making the skin flexible. However, with time the dermis becomes thinner and loses its capacity to retain moisture or stretch. Gradually, the subcutaneous layer also begins to lose fat and does not give a young and soft look.

The factors that promote such causes of eye wrinkles:

  • Exposure to sunlight
  • Smoking
  • Genes
  • Occupational and recreational habits

Age for eye wrinkles:

Different skins have different proportions of collagen or elastin content. Sebum, an oil that the skin secretes, can also vary from person to person. So, wrinkles don’t always target the old but also the young. Wrinkles can also arise as per our respective genes, eating habits and lifestyle.

Tips to prevent eye wrinkles:

  • Constant exposure to sunlight causes the skin to wither so always avoid sunlight and your fantasies of getting a sun tan.
  • Use sun block creams or moisturizers to protect your skin around the yes. Keep applying for every two to three hours if you cannot avoid the sun.
  • Sunglasses with good quality ultra violet lenses are essential to protect your eyes.
  • Polaroid lenses work well as they have a coating to reduce the reflected glare. Many options for shades or sunglasses are available in the market today, so fetch one to protect your eyes from the glaring sun.
  • Ultra violet rays can be very harmful for the eyes especially when they reflect off the snow or water.
  • Regular smoking also affects the beauty and luster of the skin around the eyes. This happens because the skin loses its moisture with regular smoking. So avoid smoking.
  • Straining the eyes by spending lots of time in front of the computer can also cause eye wrinkles.
  • Don’t go to a tanning booth. Though there are eye protectors, the artificial ultra violet rays can prove to be more dangerous for the eyes.
  • Keep drinking lots of water to maintain the water levels in your body.
  • Use an effective and mild moisturizer for the face. Apply it every morning and night and use a circular motion to do so.
  • Never rest your head on your hands so as to give your eyes pressure.

Eye wrinkles are also known as the crow’s feet and can arise not just with age but due to other reasons as well. For example, squinting of the eye in poor or strong light, or being careless about eyesight problems can also be stressful for the eyes and cause wrinkles.

Usually people relate eye wrinkles with an aging phenomenon, but if you value your looks then do take care of your eyes and meet the necessary demands to avoid wrinkles round those youthful pair of eyes.
