Facial Exercises to Prevent Wrinkles

Wrinkles on a face are the proofs of growing age and loosing strength. As people do not like old age, nobody really likes to see wrinkles on his/her face. Although a growing age is beyond the control of mortals, wrinkles are not. Wrinkles can be prevented by different measures among which facial exercise is said to be very effective.

The wrinkles, lines and folds in the face are not really wrinkles and lines. These are the supportive muscles in the face that have gone soft losing firmness, and not supporting the skin any more. Facial exercises can help by tightening the loosened muscles without going through a surgical facelift.

Some facial exercises:

  • Massage is very effective for faces. Take a few drops of essential oils between your fingertips. Use the oil with a stroking movement underneath your eyes. Lift the skin with sweeping movements upward against gravity.
  • Pinching the eyebrows is very effective for relieving your face from tension and congestion. Press the area beneath your eyes with your ring finger and breathe out every time your press down.
  • Pinch the jaw line with your ring and index finger and thumb. Do it in a suction motion. Do it from the centre to the edge of the face. Pinching the jaw will develop blood circulation at that area.
  • Squeeze the eyes shut and open them for 5 to 10 seconds. Repeat it for at least 20 times.
  • Shut your mouth and close your nostrils tightly. Close your eyes and ears too. Now make sound with your throat. This will be a humming sound. It improves blood circulation of your face.
  • Chewing of gums is also a good exercise for face.
  • Slowly press the junction of nose and eyes with your fingertips at the count of 4. Keep it pressed up to 7-8 seconds and release it at the count of 3.

These are some of the benefits of facial exercises to keep your face wrinkle free and healthy. However, there are some contrary notions about facial exercises also. According to some experts face muscles do not respond to exercises like body muscles by growing bigger or becoming ore toned. If this was the case our faces would have been huge and plump just from our habit of talking and smiling.

According to them facial exercises, on the other hand, may lead to the formation of additional and deeper wrinkles, since making the same expressions time and again can have this effect.
