Forehead Wrinkles

As time passes by and the body ages, the skin begins to lose its flexibility and luster. This is very prevalent from the lines that begin to appear on the face and body. The severity of the changes that the skin undergoes depends on the genes, skin type and exposure to various environmental factors.

Facial lines and wrinkles are usually asymmetrical developments on the face. This is due to the fact that people smile or frown more on one side than the other. Another factor that constitutes to these asymmetrical lines is, when a person is in the continuous habit of sleeping on either the right or the left cheek.

Factors that give rise to forehead wrinkles:

  • Excessive exposure to sun
  • Muscle movements
  • Any injury
  • Gravity
  • Surgical factors
  • Acne problems
  • Regular smoking

The main cause of wrinkling is the fact that the innermost layer of the skin, that is, the epidermis begins to lose its capacity to withhold moisture and due to the irregular thickening of the middle layer, that is, the dermis. This is largely caused due to the ultra violet radiations from the sun’s rays and also due to frequent exposure with environmental toxins like tobacco.

Forehead lines are considered to be deeper lines. Also known as furrows, these lines can be further classified into dynamic or static. Static lines remain unchanged with any muscle movement, whereas dynamic lines are caused due to regular activity of the facial muscles. Dynamic lines eventually become static.

Forehead wrinkles are also known as the worry lines, which appear due to contraction of the frontalis muscle when the eyebrows are raised. This condition is also known as, the Brow Ptosis, where the forehead sags and the eyebrows fall over the eyelids, to make the eyes feel tired and heavy.

Loosening of the skin or drooping is caused due to:

  • The reduction of fat cells under the skin
  • Breakdown of elastin and collagen in the dermis
  • Gravity which enables the lax tissue to sag

Ways to prevent forehead wrinkles:

  • Avoid exposure to the sun
  • Quit smoking
  • Use moisturizers to allow the skin to retain moisture
  • Use lukewarm water to wash your face daily
  • Use a soap free cleanser to wash your face twice daily
  • Use sun block creams when exposed to sunlight
  • Use creams with Vitamin C and others which are made of plant extracts

Ways to treat forehead wrinkles:

  • Botulinum toxin helps remove forehead wrinkles by paralyzing the muscles that cause these forehead lines.
  • Cosmetic surgeries are effective for removing forehead lines with a forehead or brow lift. Such surgeries relocate the facial tissues and alter the sagging tissues.

Redefine the lines on your face and make yourself look healthy, young and fresh with a combination of cosmetic procedures which seek to give you an improved complexion and an endearing look.
