Water and Wrinkles

Wrinkles are inevitable and difficult to erase once they appear and take a stubborn seat on the face. About three quarters of our body contains water and we tend to lose them in various forms, that is, through perspiration, urination, etc. Therefore it is important to compensate for the loss by drinking enough quantities of water.

Experts assert that water is the essence of all living and the cure for ailments and diseases. Being a natural element they claim is what makes it worth the status it has acquired over time in treating diseases and infections.

Infact water is also a catalyst for drug efficacy as medications are always recommended to be taken with water. This is evident from the fact that medicines do not cause stomach irritation but due to the intake of water gets absorbed easily and quickly thereby favoring a proper and effective drug action.

Dehydration therefore is the cause of numerous age related health complications like fatigue, low blood pressure, body weakness and fainting tendencies. Experts explain that water also helps in reducing wrinkles because they hydrate the skin when taken in sufficient and adequate amounts, that is, six to eight glasses on a daily basis. However, athletes are recommended to drink at least nine to thirteen glasses per day as they engage in more physical activity and exhaustion.

Owing to personal beliefs like cold water leading to stomach cramps and feeling bloated that could reduce athletic performance can prevent people from drinking enough water which is actually required by the body. Contrary to what believe, dehydration causes cramps and water helps in reducing cramp pains.

Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining a healthy skin and demeanor in the sense that it helps in flushing out all the impurities and toxins from the body. Lack of water causes the skin to crumple and wrinkles are formed.

Moisture is essential to keep a healthy and nourished skin. Wrinkles form when the outer layer of the skin that is the epidermis begins to thicken while the dermis and subcutaneous layer begin to shrink. This compressing effect is caused when the dermis loses its capacity to provide blood nutrients to the epidermis and when there is a breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers which lends elasticity and suppleness to the skin.

Water should not be misinterpreted for alcohol, and caffeinated products like coffee and tea. These beverages are harmful in a way that it steals the nutrients which helps in keeping the skin and body more healthy.
